There are various ways to get rid of scars caused by burns like pressure treatment, use of lotions and surgery. You can also use some home based remedies to lighten their appearance. These remedies are safe and easy to make. But, it is always better to consult with a dermatologist before using any home remedy or over-the-counter products. Given below are some remedies and tips on how to lighten burn scars naturally at home.

How to Lighten Burn Scars

Use essential oils to lighten the scars caused due to burns. Make a mixture by combining half teaspoon each of cedar and sage essential oil with ten teaspoons of jojoba oil. Store the resultant mixture in a clean bottle. To use it, apply the mixture on the affected area. Leave on for about 20 minutes and then rinse off with cool water. Lastly, moisturize your skin with a gentle moisturizing lotion.

Application of a mixture of fresh Aloe Vera gel and vitamin E oil twice daily will help lighten scars caused due to burns.

Another remedy to lighten burn scars is to use a mixture of egg white and lemon juice. Mix one egg white with 1½ tablespoon of lemon juice. Apply the mixture on the affected area leave it on until it dries. Wash the area with cool water. Use a good quality moisturizer to moisturize your skin.

You can also use a mixture of banana and mint leave to lighten the scars. Make a thick paste by mixing one banana, ¼ cup of fresh mint leaves and water. Apply this paste over the affected area and leave on for about 30 minutes. Use cool water to remove the paste.

Lemon juice is loaded with natural skin lightening properties hence you can also use it to fade the burn scars. Apply diluted lemon juice on the affected area.

Massage the affected area with a mixture of coconut oil and olive oil. Use this remedy on a daily basis, before you go to your bed at night.
